Asset Classifications
An extra label for asset cards — e.g. groups of a national classifier. It affects postings and depreciation in no way: a purely informational attribute for organising the card index, a third grouping axis next to the category (a template) and the type (the accounts).
Where to find it: Modules → Fixed Assets → Registers → Asset Classifications
Walkthrough
The demo holds two groups named after balance account numbers:

Two fields: code and description, both required — a classification without a description won't save. In the asset card the classification is picked in the "Classification" field — the demo vehicle 9_1 belongs to group 105 "Vehicles".

Common situations
How is it different from a category? A category is a working template (it fills in the type and model); a classification is just a label. If you need an attribute for reporting that must not touch accounts or depreciation — this is the place: the «List of Fixed Assets» report selects cards by it (the «Classification» filter), but cannot group by classification.
Is it mandatory? No. The card field is optional; an empty classification affects nothing.
The classification cannot be deleted: «A record of «Asset Classifications» is used in: Fixed Assets!» At least one fixed asset card names it — without it such a card will not save. Clear the classification in those cards (the field is optional) or pick another one, and the deletion goes through.
