Links

Connections between records: "this invoice was created from this order", "these two documents belong to the same deal". In a document card, links open with the chain button in the header — the number on it shows how many there are. The Links register is a service one: it holds all connections in the database in one list.

Where to find it: Modules → System → Registers → Links

  • The system sets them itself when one document is created from another.
  • By hand: open two cards and drag the chain button of one onto the same button of the other. "Links successfully created!" appears. The connection is created in both directions: each card sees the other. The same connection cannot be created twice — "This link already exist!".

Press the chain button — a list of linked records opens at the side: register and number. Double-clicking a row opens the linked record.

The bin button on a row removes the connection from both cards: the reverse link in the other card disappears together with this one. The exception is when you are not allowed to change records of the other card's register: then the link disappears from this card only and stays in the other.

Tasks are not part of this panel: they have their own tasks button in the card header.

Field descriptions

  • Register and Record Id — the record the link belongs to.
  • Link Register and Link Id — the linked record (the number here is the record's internal identifier, not the document number).

The register shows links only of the records you are allowed to see.

Common situations

A link shows in one card but not in the other. It was deleted from the other card by a user who may not change records of that register, or it was deleted long ago (the bin used to remove one side only), or the system set the connection in one direction only. To remove the connection completely, delete the link where it is left.

A document was deleted — what about its links? All its links disappear together with the record, in both directions: other cards no longer point to it.

"This link already exist!". Such a connection between these two records already exists — nothing needs to be done.
