Waybill Status

A housekeeping operation that asks the carrier where the parcels are and updates shipment statuses in the system.

Where to find it: Modules → Database Maintenance → Maintenances → Waybill Status

A worked example

Update waybill statuses

No parameters. The service does the same as "Nova Poshta waybill status update" — it is the same code: it takes the Nova Poshta express waybills whose numbers are recorded in Shipments and Waybill documents, asks Nova Poshta for their status and records it when it has changed. Waybills in a final state (received, deleted, refused by the recipient, not found, storage stopped) are no longer checked. The waybills themselves are not changed: Nova Poshta only receives the numbers, to report their status.

Why it is needed

"Where is the parcel" comes up every day, and the answer lives with the carrier, not with us. This service brings it into the system so a manager sees the status on the shipment card without visiting the courier's website.

It is usually scheduled: statuses change on their own while a parcel travels, and refreshing them by hand makes little sense.

Typical situations

The status did not change. Most often the waybill is already in a final state — the service skips it on purpose. Otherwise check that the document holds the waybill number: a waybill created on the Nova Poshta website and not recorded in a document does not exist for the service.

The run ended with an error. Nova Poshta did not answer for a minute (or a batch's request took longer than 5 minutes). Then no status of that run is saved — everything is rolled back together — and the next run checks the same waybills again.

The service runs but statuses are stale. The carrier has not registered movement yet — normal in the first hours after dispatch.
