Order baskets

A technical register for the web storefront: the temporary basket of a customer who picks items from the web page of a quotation price list.

Where to find it: Modules → Sales Orders → Registers → Order baskets

A worked example

Order baskets

The list shows two identifiers: Customer id (the UUID of the contact card — the one in their price list link) and Quotation price list id, the list they pick from. The card itself holds the «Basket» matrix below them: Item Code and Qty of every line. There are no totals: prices come from the price list when the basket becomes an order.

The list is empty on the screenshot: this company never used the web storefront.

How it works

The customer opens their web price list from the link and adds items. Every "add" saves the basket on the server: its lines are rewritten with what is selected now; remove everything and the basket is deleted. A basket belongs to the "contact + price list" pair, not to a browser: the same person on another device with the same link sees the same basket.

Placing the order on the page creates a sales order from the basket lines, and the basket is deleted. A closed or expired price list neither returns nor accepts a basket.

Typical situations

The customer came back and the basket is empty. The order has already been placed (the basket is deleted after it), the price list was closed or has expired, the customer card was closed, or the customer opened the link of another price list — each price list has its own basket (the page shows the basket of the price list the link leads to, not of the one set on the customer card).

A lot of baskets have accumulated. Every "customer + price list" pair where something was added but not ordered leaves a row; a placed order removes its basket.
