NP Areas

The regions of Ukraine as Nova Poshta keeps them. Twenty-five records — a book you fill once and hardly ever think about, yet it is what tells identically named settlements apart: Ukraine has dozens of Ivanivkas, and the region is what distinguishes them.

Where to find it: Modules → Nova Poshta → Registers → NP Areas

The book is filled by the data download service.

A worked example

The region list

Each record is a region name plus a reference to its administrative centre in the cities book. The name is stored in Ukrainian and Russian, like everything else in Nova Poshta's address books.

There is no separate work with this book, but documents pick their "Region" field from it on the "Nova Poshta" tab of a sales order, a shipment, a TTN (the "NP" tab there) and a customer address. The chosen region narrows the "City" picker to that region's cities; a region typed in by hand that is not in the book is not found, and the city picker is not narrowed.

In a shipment and a TTN an empty "Region" fills itself in once a city is picked, but it is taken from the cities book, not from here; if cities of the same name exist in several regions, the system asks you to pick the "Region". The region goes into the Nova Poshta waybill as the name from the document.

Where the data comes from

  • Filled by the "Nova Poshta" service — by a full run or with the "Download Regions only" checkbox.
  • The records are replaced within the company once Nova Poshta has returned the list; if it refused or returned an empty one, the previous records stay. Each company keeps its own copy — unless the book is opened to other companies through "Register sharing": then the service runs only in the company that shares it.
  • The book is small and almost unchanging, so it is refreshed on its own only after administrative reforms.

Fields

Field Description
Description The region name in Ukrainian — the list's only column; this is what the "Region" picker puts into a document
Description Ru The region name in Russian; not shown in the list, but a region is found by it too
Regional center The code (not the name) of the regional-centre city from the cities book; not shown or used anywhere
Ref Nova Poshta's region code; the cities of the book are tied to the region by it
